FATHERS should be able to claim paid paternity leave from their employer just six months after starting a job, the Government suggested yesterday.

The 26-week rule was proposed by Industry Secretary Alan Johnson in a consultation paper on the plans to give fathers almost the same rights as mothers to take time off after a baby is born.
