MONTY PANESAR was controversially ignored by England once again early today as the selectors stuck with the team from the first Test defeat to try and level the Ashes series against Australia. With Glenn McGrath pronounced fit, it meant that both the sides who took part in Brisbane were pitted against each other again after England skipper Andrew Flintoff won what promised to be a crucial toss and chose to bat.

Left-arm spinner Panesar was overlooked again in favour of Ashley Giles while paceman James Anderson also kept his place to leave coach Duncan Fletcher once more open to charges of negativity and pile the pressure on England's bowling attack to perform.
