MY STRING of pearls was given to me on my 18th birthday by my mother.
They were presented to her by my grandmother when she reached that age and in turn my grandmother received them from her mother when she turned 18. They were originally given to my great- grandmother by her husband, and so the necklace is perhaps 100 years old.
