IT IS common parlance around Roman Abramovich's 450-acre West Sussex estate that his ex-wife Irina is one lucky bird following her Pounds 1 billion divorce settlement. Not half as lucky, however, as the flocks of pheasants which stroll unthreatened through his woods and shooting drives since his interest in the place began to wane.
The billionaire Chelsea owner spent around Pounds 50,000 importing 20,000 of the creatures last summer so he could join his neighbours - including the Marquess of Milford Haven and Richard Northcott, chairman of society jeweller Theo Fennell - in pheasant shooting.
