Summary
FILM: The Beguiled, ITV1, midnight THIS fascinating Western is one of the most quirky and interesting movies Clint Eastwood has ever made. He plays Corporal John McBurney, a Union soldier who is injured (a gunshot wound to the leg) and deserts during the American Civil War. After wandering for a while, he finds himself at an isolated girls' school where the headmistress (Geraldine Page, pictured below with Eastwood) takes him in and looks after him.
It seems he has found salvation: the staff and girls will nurse him back to health and then he'll be on his way. However, things don't quite turn out like that.
