A new series of Natural World kicks off with this astonishing portrait of biologist Lynn Rogers, who has spent 40 years bonding with wild black bears in the forests of northern Minnesota. Rogers uses food to win the bears' trust, a controversial method regarded as highly dangerous. But Rogers (who admits that, at first, he was terrified) is adamant that he is safe - and his formidable furry friends certainly appear incredibly docile in his company, even allowing him to sit with their cubs, and fit radio collars without using tranquillisers. This film follows Rogers over the course of a year, as he walks through the North Woods with June, 'the most remarkable bear I've ever known', and her three yearling cubs. June's sister has just had her own cubs (prepare for the cute- ometer to go off the scale), but, though she lets him up close to see them, she makes it clear that she's not happy about the camera.
