POLICE have agreed a three-year pay deal with the Home Office, following a bitter dispute with the Government.

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith infuriated rank-and-file police by refusing to honour a 2.5 per cent deal last year, cutting it to 1.9 per cent. The move led to unprecedented public protests by officers and demands to regain the right to strike, which they gave up 90 years ago.
