AN AUSTRIAN priest who described Hurricane Katrina as God's punishment on New Orleans for the sins of its people, has been made a bishop by the Vatican. The promotion of Gerhard Wagner by Pope Benedict XVI came just days after the Pontiff controversially allowed British bishop Richard Williamson, who denies the Holocaust, happened back into the Church.
There was uproar last week after Bishop Williamson, a member of the traditionalist Catholic Society of St Pius X, said that 'no one had died in the gas chambers'.
