THEY came in their hundreds under a darkening sky to give solace to the family of Dr Aisling Butler, one of the Irish passengers on the Air France jet that crashed last week.

As they filed into St Cronan's Church in Roscrea last night for the 26-year-old's memorial service, another, equally sombre event was taking place 8,000kms away across the Atlantic Ocean.
