AMERICAN network ESPN, who launch their live Barclays Premier League coverage with Everton v Arsenal on Saturday week, intend to keep the lid on the price of TV sports rights following the excesses of doomed Setanta.

The secretive Disney-owned organisation have admitted they considered buying Setanta on eight occasions before deciding the price was too high and, instead, waited to pick up the Premier League properties for a budget price when Setanta went out of business.
