ALAN QUINLAN insisted yesterday that this group of Irish players have enough experience clocked up to ride out the turbulence that almost cost them dearly against Italy on Friday. But the flanker also admitted their display was simply not good enough against opponents they should expect to beat each time they face them.

He was speaking at the team's hotel in Killiney as they enter the final stage of preparations before departing for France tomorrow week, September 5. But the pall cast by underwhelming performances against Scotland and Italy, not to mention the infamy of the Bayonne friendly, lingers, and Quinlan was happy to admit that Friday's controversial late win over the Italians was not good enough.
