Reluctant Woods Ends His 15-Year Boxing 'Love Affair' ; World of Sport [Edition 3]

CLINTON WOODS is to quit boxing following last month's failure to regain the world light-heavyweight title. Woods, 37, was unanimously outpointed 116-112 on all three judges' scorecards by unbeaten American Tavoris Cloud for the vacant IBF crown in Florida. It was Woods's third loss on American soil after being stopped by Roy Jones Jnr in 2002 and losing the IBF title on points to Antonio Tarver last year.

The Sheffield boxer made four defences of the IBF title and fought in 10 world title fights over a 15-year professional career. He said: 'In my heyday I would have beaten Cloud, but I have no excuses and my love affair with boxing is over. I wouldn't have chosen to go out with a defeat, but I never took a beating.
