IN FAIRNESS to Fine Gael, they are increasingly coming up with policy documents that are both practical and wellargued. The latest of these is the party's SME plan, which Enda Kenny claims will help maintain, or create, at least one job in each of our 80,000 small businesses. That is an ambitious target and, inevitably, Fine Gael will be accused of too many broad brush strokes.
It is a valid criticism. But at least they are sensible brush strokes - cutting VAT, red tape and energy costs. None of this is rocket science. But, as was the case with Fine Gael's health service reform package, it has worked elsewhere and is eminently achievable.
