HISTORY is convoluted. The De Brus and Steward factions were of Anglo- Norman robber baron lines who held lands in England and encroached on the Scots.

Edward Plantagenet and De Brus were distantly related in Norman pedigree and both wanted the crown of Scotland. Our Irish cousins say Bannockburn was a battle of the Gaels on behalf of the Gauls.
