ROYAL Mail warned yesterday that its service will suffer unless it raises the price of first-class stamps by 11p to 41p.

Regulator Postcomm has ruled that prices can go up only 1p a year to 34p between 2006 and 2010 but Royal Mail say this will destroy improvements made over the past three years.
