Salmond Urged to Drop Local Income Tax

FIRST Minister Alex Salmond was yesterday challenged to drop his plans for a local income tax when he puts forward his legislative programme for next year, with 15 Bills set to come before parliament today.

Since their unveiling in March, plans to ditch council tax and replace it with a local income tax have been lambasted by business leaders and opposition politicians amid fears it would hit middle- class families.
