CHILDREN are being exploited by miserly banks and building societies paying as little as 2.75 pc interest. In some cases they are lured in with gifts and vouchers, but are then paid pitiful returns on their money.

Many of these banks pay less interest on their specialist children's accounts than on adult accounts.
