FINANCIAL Times and Penguin Books boss Dame Marjorie Scardino has broken through the Pounds 2m benchmark in pay for the first time.

The latest annual accounts for Pearson, where Scardino is chief executive, shows she took home Pounds 2.33m for 2007, a 19pc hike from the Pounds 1.96m figure from the year before.
