SCOTTISH Tories have demanded intervention by ministers after their promise to scrap hospital parking charges backfired.

Parking charges have been abolished at 14 NHS hospitals but some patients face fines of up to [pounds]60 if they overstay the waiting limit, and only one-quarter of staff can take advantage of the free parking at hospital car parks.
