PAKISTAN pace duo Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammed Asif have controversially been cleared to make an immediate return to action after their doping bans were overturned.

Akhtar and Asif were suspended for two years and one year respectively by a Pakistan Cricket Board tribunal on November 1 for testing positive for the banned steroid Nandrolone. But a three-man appeals committee lifted the bans because they decided the pair had not knowingly taken the drug.
