SKY chief executive Jeremy Darroch yesterday closed the door on any late rescue of doomed subscription network Setanta with a scathing attack on their short-term business strategy.

Darroch, speaking at a conference organised by the sports industry group, wasn't interested in saving Setanta from the threat of administration even though Sky's rivals, the Disney-owned ESPN, are expected to pick up Premier League packages in the upcoming Setanta firesale.
