WHAT do you think of the glad new year so far, then? From where I'm hiding behind the sofa, I would say not a lot. Gordon Brown, in his seasonal message to the nation (a bit like the Queen's Christmas broadcast, but without the laughs) did his best to sound upbeat. But Gordon's upbeat sounds like everybody else's downbeat.
