MARILYN SHERLOCK, chairman of the Institute Of Trichologists, says: 'Dandruff is usually caused by an excess of the yeast present naturally on everyone's scalp. This causes the skin cells to renew more quickly than normal, leading to a build-up of old skin cells which appear as the flakes we know as dandruff. 'I'd recommend the Head & Shoulders because it contains zinc pyrithione, an anti- fungal agent which slows down the production of the yeast. T/Gel contains coal tar, which also has anti-fungal properties. But, in my opinion, it's too strong for mild dandruff and may actually dry out the scalp, which could make the problem worse. But if other products don't work and your dandruff is serious, then this might be worth a go.'See the full content of this document
