Sparked by the first kickoff return for a touchdown in team history, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers clinched a spot in the National Football League playoffs with a 37-3 win over Atlanta last night. Micheal Spurlock returned an Atlanta kickoff 90 yards for a score in the first quarter to give the Bucs a 14-3 lead. It broke a string of 1,864 kickoffs without a score since Tampa Bay joined the NFL in 1976. The victory gave Tampa Bay a 9-5 record and the NFC South division with two games left to play. The Bucs will host a first round playoff game on Jan 5 or 6 against a wild card team. Tampa Bay took the lead for good in the first minute of play when Ronde Barber intercepted a pass by Atlantas Chris Redman and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown. It was the first game for Atlanta under interim head coach Emmitt Thomas.
JAMIE CAVEN will complete a remarkable journey when he plays at the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championships in London this week. The Championships start at Alexandra Palace tonight, with former world No 1 Colin Lloyd meeting Jan van der Rassel of Holland.See the full content of this document
