IN JUST six months, UCD economist Colm McCarthy and his tiny team of six have done what the Merrion Street mandarins have struggled in vain to achieve for years - and produced a cogent, sensible blueprint for our economic survival as a sovereign nation.
Their report does not make pleasant reading, not least for the 17,300 public-sector workers who are set to lose their jobs and the hundreds of thousands of social welfare recipients who will see payments slashed.
