COULD you please stop using headlines such as 'Teachers demand ...' and 'Teachers want ...', when you should be saying 'Teachers' unions demand ...'.

The teaching unions represent the views of only about 10 per cent of teachers in this country. The other 90 per cent belong to the unions simply to cover the (ever-increasing) prospect of being taken to court. They do not agree with most of what the unions say and have no interest in union politics. Unfortunately, this means that most of them cannot be bothered to reply to questionnaires or ballot papers, and so the militant fringe gets things all its own way.
