ROBBIE HENNESSY warned backers of Binocular, red-hot favourite for the Champion Hurdle, that they write off Sublimity at their peril after victory in yesterday's December Festival Hurdle placed him at the top of the pecking order of the Irish hurdlers.

The eight-year-old's half-length success in the Grade One contest from the tenacious Won In The Dark was a first as trainer for Hennessy with only his seventh runner. It rounded off a rollercoaster year after losing his mother in the spring and then being an eyewitness to a horrific shooting in his family's Dublin pub.
