QUESTION What is a lovat suit? Is it the same thing as a ghillie suit? FURTHER to the earlier answer, during World War II, I was billeted at Beaufort Castle, Inverness, ancestral home of Lord Lovat, who formed the Commando unit, the Lovat Scouts.

I met his lordship on several occasions -- he was a strikingly handsome man who always wore the kilt of his clan tartan, known as Lovat Green. The Dowager Lady Lovat was in residence at the castle during the war years.
