Summary
TADHG KENNELLY'S return to the AFL is a done deal, a leading figure in the sport has claimed -- but a new deal with the Sydney Swans could see the All-Star on reduced pay. While Kennelly himself is reportedly torn between staying in Ireland and resuming his successful Aussie Rules career after a year's hiatus that saw him win a Celtic Cross, an All-Star and become embroiled in controversy after claims in his autobiography, the view in Australia is that a return to the Swans is imminent. Graeme Allan, manager of rival outfit Brisbane Lions, claimed last night to have had a conversation with the Swans' recruiting manager Andrew Ireland and said: 'Tadhg is returning to the AFL but he won't be on the same money as he was in the past. Tadhg was talking about his heart being with Kerry but his girlfriend lives in Sydney and he's got a home there.
'He was on around AU$300,000 to $350,000 a season but the Swans won't pay him more than $200,000 given his age and injury record. 'He's a Sydney boy with strong ties to the Swans so he won't go to another AFL club.'See the full content of this document
