THE SFA last night ended a shambolic week by calling time on the international careers of Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor following a public outcry over the Ibrox pair's behaviour.

Just 24 hours after a statement from chief executive Gordon Smith had claimed the 'matter was closed' -- with both players at that stage still apparently part of manager George Burley's plans -- skipper Ferguson and McGregor were hit with bans that mean they will never again pull on a Scotland shirt.
