I'M ASTONISHED by the lack of foresight of this Government with its change in VAT. Does it not realise how much work is involved for businesses changing the VAT rate? Software has to be changed for accounting programmes, some invoices that are already printed need to be altered, websites for online ordering need to be changed. Small business don't always do this themselves, they rely on website designers. Were we expected to make all the changes by December 1? Goods for sale need to be repriced, then priced again when the rate changes next year. All for 25p on [pounds]10 of VAT-able goods. It will cost more for businesses than the saving.
Once again hard-working private sector employers are punished, what with pensions plundered and national insurance set to rise for employers' rate and employees, while the Government and their employees have their gold-plated pensions that we, the private sector, pay for them.See the full content of this document
