Summary
AS A teacher with more than 40 years experience, I have no problem with teaching assistants, but, unfortunately, they are now widely used as cheap labour, being paid about one-quarter of the salary of a properly qualified teacher.
When I first started teaching, there were many unqualified teachers. Then the Government decreed that all teachers should be properly qualified and many did obtain the appropriate qualifications. Only last week, I read that the Government now wants all teachers to have a Master's degree.See the full content of this document
