PULSATING batting, dynamic bowling, colossal crowds. How then can Australian cricket conceivably face a trading loss of more than Pounds 7million as its Test match summer draws to a close?

Simple. This Australian team, the best I have seen in more than 50 years of cricket watching, are just too damned good. They are capable of winding up a five-day Test in three days. Thus, against New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan, no one has considered buying a fifth-day ticket and very few have even prepaid for a fourth-day seat.
