ABOUT six years ago we had cavity insulation put in, but I was against it from the start, having been brought up on the premise that the cavity between the inner and outer walls was inviolate.

I believed that the gap, along with the air grates, must be kept clear to allow a free flow of air to circulate within the cavity to prevent damp.
