SHOCKING figures released yesterday highlight the existence of a new generation of young people, for whom the idea of working for a living is little more than an abstract concept.

Half a million people under 35 now claim incapacity benefit, which pays more in handouts than jobseekers' allowance - and, more importantly, absolves them from the inconvenience of looking for a job.
