FIFE player George Murray's reign as Scottish Amateur champion was brought to an abrupt end when he was beaten 4 and 3 by uncapped American college boy Callum Macaulay, from Kincardine, in the third round yesterday.

'I had four birdies and no bogeys, but I felt I played solidly rather than brilliantly,' said 21-year-old Tulliallan member Macaulay, who starts his third year as a golf scholarship student at the University of Mississippi in the autumn.
