Summary
AS THIS column signs off for the year, it is with one wish for next year -- that we have a real improvement in refereeing standards. Contrary to some who felt that he left too much go, I thought Diarmuid Kirwan did much to ensure that we had a wonderful All-Ireland final because he judged it with common sense and allowed the contest to develop a natural intensity.
Alas, they are not all like Kirwan and sometimes I wonder if some of our referees have hopped straight out of a tennis umpire's chair, such is their disdain for physicality.See the full content of this document
