NEWCASTLE fans were united yesterday - in song and sentiment, if not geographically. On a bright afternoon three days after the death of Sir Bobby Robson, they paid homage in a way fitting for somebody who was one of their own.

More than 2,000 fans travelled to Tannadice for a friendly, many of them wearing Newcastle jerseys bearing Robson's picture on the back with the words: Never Forgotten. Long before the teams emerged, they sang his name, declaring that there would only ever be one Bobby Robson, and they kept the chants up throughout much of the 1- 1 draw against Dundee United.
