TEN thousand pupils miss school each day in Scotland because of truancy, exclusion or family holidays, shocking new figures show.

On any one day, an average of 5,600 are playing truant while another 3,600 are on holiday and 800 are at home or on the streets after being thrown out of lessons for bad behaviour.
