IT'S been some show we've been putting on for the rest of Europe. At the Three Blind Mice press conference featuring Brian Cowen, Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore, there was one question (dodged) about the implied threat from the French foreign minister that Ireland would be 'the first victim' if it voted No to the Lisbon Treaty.

By my count, far more time was consumed by two questions asked and answered as gaeilge. No one is allowed to have a problem with this, of course. But when our sturdy gaeil-geoir Taoiseach hogged a lot of microphone time with an extended response in Irish, it was of course necessary for Enda and Eamon to chime in with their own Mayo and Dun Laoghaire/Galway accents.
