SALES and profits at Universal Music Ireland slumped last year as music-lovers found new ways of sourcing their favourite tunes for free.

Despite marketing some of the world's most loved acts, from Abba to the Pussycat Dolls, accounts just filed show that the company posted a pre-tax profit of E4.66m in 2007 compared to E7.51m in the preceding year.
