CREDIT is the lifeblood of business. For months now, this newspaper has been highlighting the plight of credit-starved small businesses. Otherwise profitable businesses are shutting down day after day, their staff are being laid off and, as a result, the social welfare bill that must be picked up by those still in gainful employment also grows by the day - and all because these firms cannot get credit.
That would be bad enough if the money simply wasn't there. But we all know that it is.
