HAVING betrayed the British people, betrayed the British Army, betrayed the Labour Party, Tony Blair is now, as you might gloomily expect, claiming the moral high ground.

He cries: 'Let me make one thing absolutely and abundantly clear' - if that isn't a warning signal from a politician, I don't know what is - 'there will be no change in the strategy of withdrawal from Iraq to do anything else would be a complete betrayal not just of the Iraqi people but of all the sacrifices that have been made by our armed forces.' So there we have it. The increasing majority of the public who want a swift Iraq exit - they are the would-be betrayers.
