I SHARE David Seymour's sympathy over the shocking death of poor Caydee-Lee, killed by dangerous dogs (Mail). My heart goes out to her relatives.

I have a lovely labrador, Sophie, who is my constant companion. I don't think she would hurt a fly, let alone children. But I agree that to be complacent about a dog is unwise - we can't read their minds.

We Should Treat All Dogs with Caution ; Letters

Yes, the 'human breed' is to blame.

On our walks together, I've seen macho owners with their dobermann off the lead and I've seen rottweilers with their studded collars.

One morning, on a walk in the woods, I met a man with a pitbull terrier. He didn't say hello as most dog owners do, but after passing us he turned around and shouted back: 'Stroke my dog and she'll have your bloody hand off!'
