Summary
GOD only knows what Mary Hanafin was thinking when she agreed to the Budget decision to raise the age limit for disability benefit from 16 to 18 - an extraordinarily arbitrary and grossly unfair attack on one of the most vulnerable and defenceless sectors of Irish society and one that would have yielded a saving of such utter insignificance.
But at least Miss Hanafin has now had the good grace - and, to be fair, the courage - to admit that she made a mis-take and to immediately drop this dis-graceful proposal.
