WHILE David Cameron has stuck to safe subjects such as tax breaks for married couples in his campaign to be the next leader of the Conservative Party, his 'chief of staff' Alex Deane, a thirtysomething Cambridge graduate, is not afraid to address more contentious issues. Deane, a Rightwing former debating champion, has tabled motions in favour of incest and polygamy on the website of the International Debate Education Association. 'Why should this kind of love be taboo?' he asks of sexual relations between members of the same family. Apropos polygamy, he argues: 'If I want to marry more than one person, why should the state stop me?'

ACTOR Jude Law, who made a public apology yesterday to his actress fiancee Sienna Miller for sleeping with his children's nanny, joins a distinguished throng. Peter Jay, when ambassador in Washington in the late 1970s and married to Prime Minister Jim Callaghan's daughter, Margaret took the family nanny to bed. Singer Chris de Burgh had an affair with his children's teenage nanny in 1994. Could Law's ex-wife, actress Sadie Frost, have employed blonde, attractive nanny Daisy Wright to beguile her husband?
