Summary
MANY motorists like me enjoy driving large-engined vehicles as a hobby. A lot of enthusiasts I know own three-litre plus cars and 4x4s purely as weekenders from April to September, the so-called 'show season'.
I am an American car buff, having owned and driven them for more than 25 years. I run a five-litre Chevrolet pickup, which last year covered only 480 miles. Not only that, my previous five-litre Chevy emissions test at the MoT centre showed it was as clean as a Peugeot 306. Both of my vehicles were more than 26 years old. So I guess I and many others who like to hear the sound of a roaring U.S. motor will be pigeonholed with the rest of the Chelsea Tractor set, who use their 4x4 for a two mile-or-so round trip to pick up the children from school. They like to show their neighbours how much money they can afford to throw at their cars to keep up with the Joneses - and pollute the planet while doing so. Let's face it, how many of them will ever go off road?See the full content of this document
