Summary
England will start their defence of the rugby World Cup against the third-ranked American qualifier - almost certainly the United States, on September 8, 2007 in Lens. They are in Pool A alongside South Africa and, if they win it, their quarterfinal - possibly against Wales in a repeat of the 2003 lasteight epic - is scheduled for Marseille on October 7. Should England finish as runners-up, then a 2003 World Cup final rematch against Australia looks likely.
