ALL reports of suicide are sad, but I was particularly distressed to hear of the death of Cari Loder earlier this week. Loder, who had Multiple Sclerosis (MS), was famous for pioneering a home-made treatment for the disease which, at one time, appeared to hold so much promise that a drug company invested funds for a clinical trial.

A former university lecturer, she was only 48 when she took her own life on June 8 using gas she'd bought on the internet.
