YOUNG children feel 'lost and confused' in the huge primaries of up to 800 pupils that have replaced many small neighbourhood schools, the Government was warned yesterday.

The result was parents who could afford to were rejecting larger primaries and opting out of the state sector, said Mary Tasker, the chairman of the educational charity Human Scale Education.
